We have successfully completed another “Bear Hunt”. We were able to make over 5200 children’s holiday brighter. With the proceeds from the Chili Cook-Off, we were able to purchase 1116 new stuffed animals. Many were also collected that day.
The charities that benefitted from those collected in San Antonio were The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, Any Baby Can, The Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, Ronald McDonald Houses, Samm’s Family Shelter, Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives, Bexar County Child Protective Services Rainbow Room, Boysville, Blue Santa’s, Kingdom Resources, Battered Women and Children’s Shelter, Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center, Northern Hills United Methodist Food Pantry, several San Antonio firefighters substations and police substations. We have reserved several hundred to go to the new Children’s Hospital on Sonterra that will be opening later this month. The too loved were given to the Humane Society and Animal Defense League.
The ones collected in Bandera went to the Bandera EMS. Boerne used theirs for their Big Give. The other’s went to The Boy’s and Girl’s Club and the Kendall County Women’s Shelter. Kerrville did an amazing job collecting 458. They went to Hill Country Casa for the children that need to ride in an EMS vehicle and the too loved found a new home at Kathleen Cailloux Humane Society.
A special thanks to the office coordinators. Karen Nolan, Jennifer Nichols, Cheryl Morris, Audrey Boerner, Stacy Cox, Jan Hicinbothom, Charlene Goree and Luisa Horton. Luisa also did her usual outstanding job with our marketing material for both the Chili Cook-Off and the Bear Hunt.
The agents in our office have already started collecting for this year. We have 111. I guess they felt it was a little bare.
