Thursday, November 5, 2015 — As a member of the Kerrville community and a local REALTOR, Linda Stilwell feels very strongly about working as a volunteer, as well as, taking a role civically. Among the many things she does is sit on the Zoning Board of Adjustment for the City of Kerrville. Having been a voting member of this board for a couple of years Linda was elected Board Chair for The Zoning Board of Adjustment for the city of Kerrville.
Linda enjoys sitting on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and doing her part to make Kerrville a great place in which to live and work. When asked about her job Linda says, “In my opinion, our job is to interpret the zoning codes and see if we can help citizens understand and change or not change these codes (by means of a variance) so as to maintain the city plan and not detrimentally affect any of the citizens as best we can. Sometimes we have to say no to requests, but it’s not necessarily because it’s a bad request or bad idea, but because it might not be good for the community as a whole.”
The Zoning Board of Adjustment will review requests that come before the board for variances upon the zoning code of the City of Kerrville. These variance requests have been through the review process at the zoning commissioners office, then it comes to the board, then if approved goes to the Planning and Zoning Board and/or the City Council for final approval.
Linda began her real estate career in 2004, and during that time she became a member of the Kerrville Board of REALTORS. She has held several committee positions over the years and is now beginning the next year as the newly appointed Chair of the Education Committee. Additionally Linda is also on the social committee for the Kerrville Board of REALTORS.
Formerly Linda was a member of the Board governing the Hill Country Home Opportunity Council serving for approximately a year and a half before resigning her post in November 2014. Currently a member of the Kerr County Women’s Chamber, where she has served on many committees but now holds the Historian position. Along with various fund raising activities for women, they also have scholarship opportunities and other areas to help women in need.
As a member of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce and a chamber volunteer as a Chamber Ambassador, Linda helps build membership. Calling members regularly to see if there is more their chamber can do to enhance their business via chamber services, Linda serves the membership by attending open houses and ribbon cuttings too.
On behalf of Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS, congratulations Linda on being elected Board Chair for The Zoning Board of Adjustment for the city of Kerrville!
