The Texas Hill Country is a region that offers the best of both worlds: urban culture combined with the splendor and charm of the Texas countryside. A gem settled in the marvelous Texas Hill Country, Boerne is only 30 miles north of San Antonio via Interstate 10. Established more than 150 years ago by German immigrants, this lovely area surrounds Cibolo Creek—home to numerous varieties of turtles, fish, ducks, and geese. One of the unique features of the city is the River Road Park, a popular location for picnics and fishing.
With an increasingly rich and diverse community of residents, New Braunfels is conveniently situated between San Antonio and Austin. Surrounded by the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers, as well as Canyon Lake and Landa Lake, this is home to some of the best water activities in Texas. Canyon Lake/Spring Branch
Fairly isolated from the city scene, Canyon Lake and Spring Branch are two small towns just west of New Braunfels. Canyon Lake is a familiar travel destination for those who want a place to relax on the lake, while Spring Branch has been a popular place for people aspiring to buy plots of land to build their dream home or take up farming and ranching.
Known for its unique fusion of Texan and German heritage and famous for its peaches, vineyards, towering oak trees, and classic Hill Country views, Fredericksburg is located 71 miles northwest of San Antonio via I-10 and US 87. The Pedernales River, a tributary of the Colorado River, winds through the area, surrounded by scenic views and plentiful supply of natural beauty.
Nestled on the banks of the Guadalupe River, Kerrville is a vibrant community that is the capital of the Texas Hill Country. About an hour west of San Antonio, Kerrville is one of the oldest communities in Texas, with a rich knowledge of history and culture. From enjoying wildlife and nature to appreciating fine arts, this city is truly a display of natural brilliance in the Hill Country area.
A reservoir on the Guadalupe River formed by the construction of a dam in 1928, Lake McQueeney provides hydroelectric power to the area and is located 5 miles west of Seguin. Grandfathered into the Texas Hill Country category because of its relation to New Braunfels, the small town gained its name from the lake, where outsiders go swimming, fishing, and boating during the summer months.
