Wishing Cheree Rey A Wonderful Retirement

Monday, August 4th, 2017 — The CBHarper Family celebrated Cheree Rey’s retirement today as she closes her chapter here at Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS®. Her story started back in 1984 with D’Ann Harper, in the early days of Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS®. Today we listened and they shared memories of that time alongside other Sales Agents who have also shared in the journey. Some of those are Barbara Kressin and Mary Jo Johnson, both of who are still as part of the CBHarper Family.

Her story started back in 1984 with D’Ann Harper, in the early days of Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS®. Today we listened as they shared memories of that time alongside other Sales Agents who have also shared in the journey. Some of those are Barbara Kressin and Mary Jo Johnson, both of who are still as part of the CBHarper Family. Amidst the laughter, D’Ann and Cheree reminisced over experiences along the way. D’Ann also shared her deepest gratitude for the nearly 34 years of service Cheree has given to a brokerage they’ve watched blossom and grow.

Cindy Pundt, Your Hometown REALTOR®

Without the professional guidance and experience of a licensed REALTOR®, buying and selling a home many times means tangling with unnecessary complications and roadblocks.The term ‘REALTOR®’ is a registered, collective membership mark, with identifies real estate professionals who are members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and adhere to its strict Code of Ethics. The NAR outlines the many benefits of working with a professional REALTOR® to handle all of your real estate needs.

Among our team of over 425 licensed REALTORS® is a lady by the name of Cindy Pundt. Born and raised in the Texas Hill Country, Cindy has lived in Texas her whole life. Her interest in real estate blossomed when she purchased her first home. Over the years she has honed her skills and expanded knowledge of the Texas real estate industry.

Recently, Cindy received a glowing recommendation from a client:

“During a period of less than one year, Cindy Pundt listed my two homes at { removed for privacy } in Converse, TX.  My wife and I were pleased that both were sold in less than 2 weeks – one in 2016 and the other in 2017.  Cindy Pundt was more than instrumental in getting each home ready to be put on the market and kept the exterior in compliance with HOA rules.  I believe that her efforts were well beyond any assistance that I received in buying and selling several homes during the last 40 years.  I want to recognize her excellent customer service and superb interpersonal skills.

The first home was sold during my retirement from the U.S. military.  It had been rented for two years and need exterior and interior repairs and general maintenance.  What made her efforts more extraordinary is that she coordinated services with me while I resettled in Montana.

We waited to sell the second home after another renter left.  Unfortunately, that renter left the home in terrible shape and we were not aware of the extent of other issues as we were in Montana.  All the carpet needed to be removed and it had been replaced only 2 years before.  A more serious concern was that the renter had not disclosed the extent of water damage from leaking PEX water lines.  Ms. Pundt recommended that the developer be contacted since she knew that other homeowners’ in the area had their water lines completely replaced by the developer.  I contacted DR Horton and they agreed to replace the water lines and provide a warranty.  The Ms. Pundt obtained three quotes each for completely repainting the interior and another for the carpet.  At the same time, the roof needed to be replaced due to hail damage during April 2016.

Ms. Pundt was wonderful throughout both prelisting and listing efforts on each home.  We thank her for all her assistance and reassurance about being able to sell the two properties.  We would highly recommend her to other clients.”

Coldwell Banker Skills for Amazon Alexa

As we move toward fully embracing voice-enabled technology and fully functional smart homes, Coldwell Banker has kept a pulse on the latest trends. Now Coldwell Banker is turning up the volume with an Amazon Alexa Skill for agents, brokers, and client to get real estate news on-the-fly.

Thanks to Amazon, “Alexa” has become a household name. On June 6th, 2017 Amazon Alexa users were one step closer to finding the homes of their dreams thanks to a partnership with Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC. By prompting Amazon’s voice assistant with,

“ Alexa, Ask Coldwell Banker for the Home of the Week,”

users will hear a one-minute description of a featured Coldwell Banker listing and be connected to their Coldwell Banker office.

On August 1st, 2017 Coldwell Banker unveiled its second Skill for Amazon Alexa — the Coldwell Banker Gen Blue News Skill. By prompting Alexa with,

“Alexa, open Gen Blue News”,

agents will hear the latest Coldwell Banker news and access additional resources through the Alexa app.


What is a Skill?
An Amazon Alexa Skill is an app for the voice-controlled Amazon Echo speakers.

How does it work? Once you enable the skill, just prompt Alexa with, “Alexa, open Gen Blue News.” In less than 90 seconds, Gen Blue News delivers best practices, industry insights and quick challenges to help you grow your business.

Why develop the Skill? Coldwell Banker surveyed its brokers and agents and found that 79 percent of respondents would be interested in a smart home speaker, like an Amazon Echo or Dot, that was equipped with real estate news and industry insights. Your wish is our command!

What can I expect from the Gen Blue News Skill? Episodes will feature quick tips and useful info to stay ahead in the market, challenges to act on immediately to drive business and agent success stories that offer an important dose of inspiration.

Who can I expect to hear from in the Gen Blue News Skill? You’ll hear the voices of brand leadership, industry insiders and the brokers and agents who make up the Coldwell Banker network. How to Deal With Unsightly City Trash Cans

We’ve all been there. Maybe it’s that one neighbor who moves their trash cans in front of your house? Or perhaps you are a real estate agent trying to guide the homeowner so that it photographs well.

Either way, large obtrusive items like city trash cans can cause quite the eyesore.

Our professional photographers do their best to ensure such things are minimized in photos to best compliment the home while remaining true to its representation. Naturally, the on-staff designers could not resist adding their bit of flair to combat the view of a, particularly overwhelming view.

CBHarper’s Summer Blood Drive 2017

Throughout the year, for many consecutive years, we host Blood Drives for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center. Sometimes we have a face for our cause to donate life-saving blood.
Such is the case with Noami Hennesey.

Noami was born with an autoimmune disease called thalassemia, a condition quite common in her native China. Thalassemia is a blood disorder in which the body does not create enough red blood cells or enough of the oxygen-carrying protein called hemoglobin. The only treatment for thalassemia is blood transfusions, which Noami will receive for the rest of her life.

In China, blood donors are rare and there are extreme shortages of blood available for patients. Noami, who grew up in an orphanage, would receive blood transfusions just twice a year. The result was that she always was exhausted and frequently in pain. Fortunately, she was adopted at the age of 10 by a family from Helotes, and now she is able to receive lifesaving transfusions on a regular basis, approximately 35 to 50 units of red blood cells in a typical year.

Noami is thankful for the number of donors in the United States who have been a part of her progress. Many children with thalassemia from the area in China where Naomi is from do not live past the age of 14, but she has already beaten that with her recent 15th birthday — and a normal life.

The CBHarper Summer Blood Drive was a tremendous success and proud supporter of Noami and other like her who depend on life-saving donations. We exceeded our goal of 10 pints of blood and collected 16 pints of blood, which means we saved 48 lives!
We also had 2 donors who donated Double Red Cells which counts for 4 pints of blood.

Special thanks to everyone who donated blood and who helped to make our Summer Blood Drive such a huge success.

 

 

We wanted to offer an outlet for those that still wanted to give but perhaps ran out of time. There is a location very close just off Northwest Military and Loop 1604 where donors can drop by – you can even schedule an appointment online here.

Dina Murphy was awarded the certification of GRI.

The GRI designation is a powerful tool to attract and build new business. This certification increases skill levels across the entire landscape of real estate with in-depth training in legal and regulatory issues, technology, professional standards, and the sales process. A minimum of 60 hours of coursework is required, and subjects covered generally include:

  • Market Knowledge: Neighborhoods and property amenities, considerations for housing types, developing CMAs and impact of MLS, financing option, and home-buying programs, inspections and appraisals/valuations

Fourth of July Sentiments

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”, writes Thomas Jefferson in 1776, as one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence.

Although perhaps written in a different time with different social norms, the U.S. and Americans as a whole have made consistent strides to truly embody those words. It is this idea that has emboldened us to forge our own paths as individuals and as a nation… among these life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

On July 4th, two hundred and forty-one years ago thirteen colonies claimed their independence from Great Britain, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Perhaps the concept of the Declaration of Independence can seem unclear especially given it originally represented, in part, the severing of ties between the original 13 colonies from the rule of the British. It’s origination growing vague through the years of a changing and evolving country.

But America is a young country globally speaking, and we are still learning. The true beauty is the melting pot of innovation we have become. Passionate are we, in our voices that speak to justice, courage and hope. Together we glimpse a bright future in celebrating the holiday we know as Independence Day highlighted by a celebration of fireworks, good food shared with friends and family.
