CBHarper New Braunfels & Habitat for Humanity 2017

Each year the Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels office works directly with the Comal County Habitat for Humanity to give back to the community by decorating and securing sponsorships for home-studs.
Martha and her family are ready for homeownership and need help to complete their dream. Their home is scheduled for Autumn of 2017. In order to frame a Comal County Habitat for Humanity home, they need over 300 studs ( 2 x 4 x 92-5/8″ wood).  You can partner with Martha and Habitat by sponsoring a stud for $200. With your sponsorship, you can take a stud home or to your organization and decorate it. Then return your decorated stud back to Comal Habitat by September 15th. Your decorated stud will be used to frame Martha’s Habitat home.

*The studs will be available for pick-up at the Comal County Habitat for Humanity office at 1269 Industrial Drive, New Braunfels, Texas  9:00am – 4:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday before September 15th.

Meanwhile, the folks at Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper Realtors New Braunfels celebrate with great enthusiasm”Paint Your Stud Day”.  Our local Comal County Habitat for Humanity is getting ready for the NEXT home for us to help build. The donations for these studs will be able to purchase $1,400 of building supplies.

“We love our local Habitat families!” says Julie Gezella, VP of Residential Sales for the Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels office.

Congratulations Julie Gezella

Thursday, November 19th — Comal County Habitat for Humanity had their 2015 Volunteer Appreciation Banquet at the Knights of Columbus Hall in New Braunfels.  Julie Gezella, Sales Manager with the New Braunfels office was chosen by the Board of Directors to receive the 2014 Susan Brown Award for Outstanding Volunteer Dedicated to Fundraising. This award is in memory of Steve Brown’s wife, Susan. Steve is a member of the Board of Directors.

Nathan Weir, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity presented Julie the award for her work on raising funds thru their Stud Run 5k, Mudd Volleyball and various silent auctions during their office events.   Nathan mentioned that this award is always given internally.  To have an outside corporate company raise the funds that Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® has, hasn’t happened, until now!

Julie told the audience that “without the help of her amazing office and amazing Broker, D’Ann Harper, no way could those funds have been raised.  For our third year, we continue to increase the amount of money we raise.  Our Community Appreciation New Braunfels event on December 8th at our office will be another silent auction. In addition to lots of items to bid on, this year Nathan has arranged to have Lone Star Elementary School decorate doors donated by Habitat for the auction as well.  The kids will be told to create the theme “Opening Doors for Opportunity”, a revitalization project for the community of which Lone Star School is located in.  The awareness for the kids to know how important homeownership can be for deserving hand selected families is amazing! “

From all of us here at Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® – thank you for all you do and congratulations!

Volleyball In New Braunfels

volleyball 2Saturday, August 1st — Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper New Braunfels office and Coldwell Banker Mortgage played in the 2nd Annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament at Texas Ski Ranch for Comal County Habitat for Humanity.

A huge supporter, D’Ann would of been proud to see her New Braunfels group play in probably the most challenging of all conditions, 18″ of muddy, nasty water! Though it might have just been a relief given the heat index. The tournament lasted from 9:00am until about 4:00pm with a total of 18 teams participating.

A great time was had by all,  and over $10,000 was raised to help fund local home building for deserving families.  Now we are well on our way to participating in the 2nd home that Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper Realtors has raised money for.

Habitat Home For Single Grandmother of 5

May 20, 2015 —  Jerome Issacs, REALTOR® and Julie Gezella, Vice President of Residential Sales at the Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels office, delivered household items to the Perez family today. The recipient of this Habitat home is a grandmother of 5 grandchildren that she is raising on her own.  Today was an exciting day as the Perez family moved into their home, and the strength Mrs. Perez has showed in caring for her grandchildren is kindly returned by the community. The wonderful team at the New Braunfels office were happy to assist in providing household items as the culmination of hard work through volunteers efforts is completed upon their move-in.

Located in the Morningside Subdivision of New Braunfels, their new home is an example the dream many of us share in building memories and sustaining a strong family foundation, both physical and metaphorical.

The New Braunfels office raised funds through auctions and sponsorships of various events as well as manpower to help build this home over the last five months.

Pictured below is Jerome, Rebecca Perez and her granddaughter Alisa.

It was exciting to witness first hand making a homeownership dream come true! The entire office at Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels is ready to do it again!

CBHarper competes in Mudd Volleyball

The first annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament, held by Comal County Habitat for Humanity, started promptly at Saturday morning and lasted well into the afternoon at River City Range in New Braunfels. The weather, though temperatures reached the high 80s, couldn’t have been better for some friendly volleyball in the mud. To play in the tournament, people could register in co-ed teams of six to 10 members and had to be at least 14-years-old to participate.

Each team was guaranteed at least six games to play, and although the organizers kept score, the purpose of the tournament was strictly recreational. The winning teams advanced to the playoffs, and then the final undefeated team was named the winner of the tournament. During the day, participants and observers could purchase food, drinks and T-shirts to remember the muddy afternoon.

This year, the tournament was a fundraiser to raise money for Comal County Habitat for Humanity. Clint Cronin, a board of director and president of Comal County Habitat for Humanity, said the nonprofit organization has built at least 30 homes in the community since 1993. Their goal this year is to build four houses, which is two more than the organization normally builds every year.

photo1With the funds raised from the Mudd Volleyball Tournament, as well as from four other signature events during the year, Comal County Habitat for Humanity hopes to achieve this goal. Cronin, who has been a volunteer at the organization for the last 10 years, and the president for the last two, is confident they can make that happen.

“This event exposes Habitat for Humanity in the community, which is good for us,” Cronin said. “We might not be seen at other activities, so this event is a great opportunity for us to get the word out. In a growing community, there is a need here, and we are trying to satisfy it. Today, people are having a great time playing in the mud and water and enjoying the companionship. Everyone always has more fun in a group.”

Cronin firmly believes that Comal County Habitat for Humanity, and the many events put on throughout the year, could not exist without the continued support of the community and the volunteers who selflessly give their time.

Nathan Weir, the executive director at Comal County Habitat for Humanity, agrees with Cronin and hopes to see the event grow exponentially next year.

“We have 14 teams this year, and we hope to have double next year,” Weir said. “We wanted to give this event a shot because it’s an event that hits a different demographic. Also, it was publicized as a recreational event and not something too competitive, so you don’t have to be a super volleyball star to play. There are some new people who have seen it and are already planning on playing next year. So that makes me happy.”

Marzena Marroguin, a New Braunfels resident who participated in the tournament with her twin sister and friends from church, is already making plans to get another team together next year.

“Well, we all go to church together and fellowship together, and this is good for the community,” Marroguin said. “It’s fun, it’s teamwork and we always want to get together and help where we are needed. We’re getting muddy for a mission.”

Unfortunately, our CBHarper team only won 2 out of 6 games, but fun was had all around! Great job everyone for a great cause!
