Comal Habitat for Humanity Holiday Fundraiser 2016

15401036_10210812653809916_4029133205936043804_nThe Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels office hosted an open house fundraiser directly benefiting the Comal Habitat for Humanity. Julie Gezella, VP of Residential Sales for the New Braunfels office, along with the entire team of local Sales Agents helped support this annual cause in a big way. The theme for this years’ Holiday party was “This is Where Awesomeness Happens.”

Nearly a dozen doors were decorated by children from the Lone Star Elementary and iCento schools for this open house event (5 have been sold so far). In addition to a many silent auction items, these beautiful doors were auctioned off with all proceeds going directly to the Comal County Habitat for Humanity. It’s a win for the children as well, with the winning classrooms receiving cash to spend for supplies.

In this season and all seasons Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® is proud to support Habitat in building homes with deserving families in Comal County. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people from everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating homes so that there are decent houses in decent communities. Lending a hand up, not a hand out.

“We must view shelter as the foundation for improving access to nutrition, education, employment and health care. We must view it as a vehicle for lasting transformation for families and communities alike.”

– Jonathan Reckford, CEO, Habitat for Humanity International

DID YOU KNOW?

• Habitat for Humanity SELLS the homes to their families – the homes are NOT free.
• The homes are financed through a long-term, no-interest loan.
• Habitat families help build their homes, with help from Habitat volunteers.
• Habitat families must complete 350 hours of “Sweat Equity” before they can move into their homes.

In Loving Memory: Michael Scudder

mscudder_304189On Monday November 28th our CBHarper Family was met with the deeply sad news of Michael Scudders sudden passing. Micheal joined our company over 20 years ago and has held a variety of positions including Vice President of Residential Sales for the New Braunfels and North West Sales Offices. A long time REALTOR®, he was also a member of FRAR and previously the New Braunfels / Canyon Lake Association of REALTORS®. In 2008, he was President of NBCLAR and in 2009 the chairman of the Central Texas MLS.

The Four Rivers Association of REALTORS® says in a Facebook post, “Michael played an integral part in the purchasing of the land our office is on and the building of our home. He was a true servant leader, always leading by example for the agents with his office at Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® and within our organization.”

img_3198Michael leaves behind his beautiful wife Ruby, grandchildren and great grandchildren; all of whom are in our thoughts and prayers. Michael will forever have a place in our hearts and we hold many, many fond memories. During this sad time we asked those who knew him and built those memories with him to share their experiences, so that we can also celebrate his life.

“Love you Michael. So proud to have worked by your side. A roll model for our industry.”
— Beckie Whittier

“Few people have touched as many Realtor lives as Michael has. His mentorship to agents inside and outside of Coldwell Banker, his leadership on the board and through his service on so many committees over the years, and his genuine care and friendship to so many of us has truly left a mark on all our lives. He will be sorely missed by all who had the great fortune to know him. Ruby Scudder, you and your entire family are in my heart and prayers at this sad time. To our colleagues at CBDHR, we mourn with you.” — Kathy Carl

“Michael was the kindest gentlest man I’ve met in a long time. He always took the time to ask how you were. Always cared how you answered. He truly loved Ruby and his family. God has welcomed home a true servant and we are left to cherish memories. Praying for Ruby for Laura and for all of his family and those who knew him. Love you Michael, thank you for your always encouragement.” — Lea Phelps

Michael was often referred to as “our gentle giant”. Not only was he big in stature but he had a BIG heart!  He was a true professional and so very proud to be part of the Realtor organization.  He always gave a 100% of himself and was a very loyal employee.  Michael never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He was the first to volunteer for any special  project and truly loved each of his agents.  But the true love of his life was Miss Ruby. To him she could do no wrong and their children were a very important part of his life.

Michael, we will miss you!” — D’Ann Harper

Big Bets For Homeless Pets

In an extended commitment to find homes for dogs in 2016, Coldwell Banker will continue its successful “Homes for Dogs Project” in collaboration with Adopt-a-Pet.com. Last year as part of the Coldwell Banker family, we set out on our mission to make a difference for the millions of adoptable pets around the country in need of a loving home.

Most recently our Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels Office took part in a casino night at the McKenna Center. Themed “Big Bets for Homeless Pets” tickets, food, beverages and big prizes were offered as part of an amazing casino night. With proceeds going to Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area, over 250 people came out and participated in the festivities.

We were very pleased to have sponsored this event. Thank you to Julie Gezella, her husband Ken, Kaycee Blanchard and all of the CBHarper New Braunfels Family for participating giving back to the community.

CBHarper New Braunfels Celebration

13428012_10209687823487862_1153746447909914556_nJune 2016 — Recently the Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels Sales Office held a Beach Party Lunch. Organized by two Sales Agents, Jenny Vonfeldt and Barbara Morgan, this party was full of fantastic fun-themed frivolity!

While the Sales Agents out of the New Braunfels office work very hard, they play hard as well. They worked together at the Texas River Fest on June 11th to spread the word of “finding home” amongst patrons eager to float the river. Despite the turn-out, they braved the Texas heat at Rockin’ R River Rides to cheer on in the name of real estate. More than just handing out free CBHarper swag – live music and cold drinks were also enjoyed. On June 14th, honoring the nearly 100 new listings the team brought into the office, they continued the week by hosting a beach theme luncheon to celebrate such a wonderful accomplishment.

New Braunfels Office Open House

Tuesday, December 8th — New Braunfel’s Herald Zeitung published a front page article featuring our Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® New Braunfels Office auctioning off doors benefiting Habitat for Humanity. The students at New Braunfels Lone Star Elementary put their imaginations to use decorating the doors to be auctioned for Comal County Habitat for Humanity Neighborhood Revitalization Program.

Beginning at 4pm, the first guests arrived to the smell of fresh made wassail. Each wall, lined with seating and auction items, was the perfect picture of merriment. Over 300 guests enjoyed good food and company, plus a special appearance from Mr. Claus himself. Children excitedly trailed Santa throughout the office to convey their Christmas wishes and have a photo taken. More than $4,500 was raised, in addition to the pending final tally of the door auction, benefiting the local Lone Star Elementary. The door voting will run through this Sunday, December 13th, and we welcome the public to stop by our New Braunfels office to cast their vote.

Over all it was such an amazing night and the reward of giving back to our community is its own reward. Thank you to all who attended and donated so many wonderful silent auction items. To view all the photos visit our company Facebook page here or here.
