Is It Spam?

July 2015 — Our Technology Department offers many valuable resources to the Sales Associates at Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, REALTORS® including a help desk to assist with day-to-day troubleshooting. This can be anything from troubles with email to difficulties with the display of property listings. Rather than spend hours trying to assess a situation, the Sales Associates merely have to place a call or email to the IT Help Desk for prompt, helpful guidance. Many concerns are addressed the same day, based on volume and complexity. All individuals are offered the same friendly staff, ready to listen to their concerns.

77996980A call from our Sales Associate rang into the IT Department recently, and this lady was confused about a phone conversation she had with Microsoft. Apparently she was notified by a so-called Microsoft employee stating her PC laptop had been compromised. In these cases, the caller will likely ask for remote access to the computer. It is often time consuming and involves clicking on something, downloading or buying software that would actually be malicious. Identity theft, fraudulent software and scams sourced from unknown sources are seemingly more frequent. These type of threats to a person’s computer can be unnerving to say the least. However, this Sales Associate knew she could trust her IT Department. A quick call to our technology team was all it took to discover that the phone call was a scam. Our staff quickly supplied an assessment of the computer in question and set our Sales Associate’s mind at ease.

The on-staff support team will not try to sell the Sales Associates anything. Additionally, they steer the REALTORS® away from scams and unneeded expenses. More than that if any of the Sales Associates have questions or need advice about tech purchases, strange computer problems or find themselves lost navigating the sea of information – our Technology and Marketing Departments are here to help.
