We’ve always wondered just how neighborhoods gets their names. Sure, it is just a Google search away from the answer but it wasn’t until recently that we actually looked it up. According to one website, the name often develops out of how residents refer to the area. There are a variety of different ways though. Most commonly, real estate groups that purchase and develop the land define and name the neighborhoods. Usually it is well researched and named with the intention on portraying a certain feeling about the community or through geographic markers. Branding by these real estate investors can change over time or even rejected by residents in favor of an older, preferred name. Investors tend to avoid negative connotations, and in fact, we found one that showcases patriotism.
